Da Grip ! - By:Joe McNally

Focusing left eyed brings your motor driven camera closer to your left shoulder. (Really Joe, no shit?!) That’s a good deal. If you swing your body around into something resembling a boxing stance, your left shoulder becomes a base, or a platform for the camera body. It also brings your center of gravity back under the camera. Also a good move.

(grip-left eye)

How to do.

Put the left mitt under the lens, or, if truly skinny on shutter speed whilst using a short lens, clap that puppy over your right hand gripping the camera. (Clap that puppy hahaha) Basically place the camera on your left shoulder. Tip: Not on the bone)

On the third photo he is not holding the lens, why?
Some of the lenses such as 17-55mm (link) or 14-24mm (link), the photographer doesn't need to hold the lens all the time since there is not much the zoom and there is no aperture ring on the lens anymore.

(Warning, warning! This camera grip is much more convenient and doable if you are left eyed and use a motor driven camera, which is obviously deeper, say, than a D70. So we’re talking a D300 with a grip, or a D3, that type of body. Also, the left eye thing. I just have always used my left eye. Dunno why.)(JOE)

Mission LCF - behind the camera

We are not permitted to use tripod for flash in the corridor because of safety reasons. So we ended up using our friend Varun.

My colleague Erhan is setting the flash power. Looks like he will give a kiss to flash.

Nikon 24-70 F2.8 N Light Leak Problem

Its a big shock, I tested it my self and it is true.
Its ok when its at 50mm but when its 55 or 54 maybe it has this light leak.
That makes me think, should I buy sigma or fix the nikon lens?

Nikon Help Hotline Says "ITS YOUR FAULT" Click and watch
In my point of view, nikon should have made it better!!! The lens costs around 1100 quid and it cant even endure hot and cold weather?

But again I don't point my lens under studio flash and set the camera into high ISO and shoot. I'm always at ISO 200(digital), 160(Kodak Porta), 100(Fuji Provia)

LightDrawing

Its a simple and fun thing that every one can do with SLR cameras.
All you need is a tripod, wireless remote control for camera and sparker or something alike .
You also need to find a dark space with no light at the background.

How to do?

  1. Setup your camera with tripod.
  2. Set your camera on bulb mode.
  3. Go in front of your camera holding sparker and wireless remote.
  4. Press and hold the remote then start drawing something on air with your sparker.
Note: I didn't have wireless remote for my camera that time, but I had my girlfriend to press and hold the Camera button for me. ;)

On the street .... my mom at Kapadokya, isn't she cool?

Kapadokya - TURKEY

In Grand Bazaar - Istanbul _ Turkey

Grand Bazaar in Istanbul is one of the largest and oldest covered market in world.
Turkish name of Grand Bazaar is Kapalıçarşı which means "covered market" or "covered bazaar".

In my opinion who ever visits Istanbul, must see this historic place.

In a must see place, there are always must buy items. Silk and cashmere scarfs are every where in every color, every pattern.

More expensive scarfs and materials are usually inside the store.

The cheeper scarfs (still good quality) are outside the store for display.

On the street ... in Istanbul around Galata Tower

I was walking around with my girl friend, and were trying to find a place but we got lost AGAIN...
How ever she had her Camera and she wanted to take some people photos in Istanbul.

We found this boy sitting on the ground and my girlfriend took a photo of him.

I liked it, and then edited it by LightRoom on my free time.

Structure of my new course.

Fashion Styling and Photography

This unique course provides you with an integrated knowledge of the various aspects of fashion styling and photography. It presents an exciting educational experience that incorporates cultural studies with creative practice. The programme will enable you to develop an enquiring mind and a range of specific transferable professional as well as personal skills. Technical and professional skills are nurtured alongside creative and conceptual initiatives, and through practical and theoretical assignments you will develop an understanding and a critique of fashion as image and cultural product.

You will follow a programme of core studies in practical styling and photography and these are linked together through a series of lectures, demonstrations and practical assignments. Personal and professional development including communication, negotiation, team working, networking and studentship skills are measured and assessed in conjunction with core subject skills, in the interests of an overall learning experience that is relevant and useful.

Cultural and contextual studies support and inform this development through project work that is largely textual. You are supported throughout this in a teaching and learning environment that is ultimately focused on your needs wherever possible. Students are encouraged at all times to identify and develop their own working methodology and style against a backdrop of a professional establishment that is constantly ready and waiting to be pushed, surprised and transcended. In the final year, you will complete your Final Negotiated Project that will focus on either fashion styling or photography.
